+ Rocky Mountain National Park Overview
The main entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park is located just under four miles west of Estes, Park, with the Wild Basin Entrance sitting 16 miles south of Estes Park, while the Western entrance is only one mile from Grand Lake. It's easily accessible (but crowded) during the summer months. While the Winter months are less crowded there are closed roads & the park is at more risk to adverse conditions.
Most locations can have a maximum of 10 people present (Including Photographer/Videographer, Officiant, Guests, etc.) 30 is the absolute max number of attendees allowed, which only apply to a select few designated locations. While this may initially seem limited, couples are more than welcome to continue their photoshoot in their wedding attire at more remote locations without restrictions (unless otherwise stated).
+ Elopement & Wedding Permits
+ Misc. Details & Thoughts
Let’s start out with the most important part of having your elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park: Permits. It’s required that all couples having an intimate wedding or elopement purchase a WEDDING & ELOPEMENT PERMIT ($300) or a PHOTOSHOOT PERMIT ($50) if you’re just having a couples or adventure session. These fees go directly to the upkeep of the park, ensuring that its beauty and wildlife are properly cared for.
Permits are now distributed on a limited basis. May- October: 60 per month, Nov.- April: 40 per month for all issued permits on a first come – first serve basis.
Due to the high number of visitors that the park has on a yearly basis (nearly 4.7 million in 2019 alone), no ceremony site can be reserved for your specific event, and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. All ceremony locations are also highly trafficked attractions at the park, and fairly accessible to people of all ages, which brings heavy foot traffic, especially in the summer months. To avoid the rush of visitors, it’s best to consider having a sunrise or sunset (sunset is highly recommended for most locations in the Summer months), as you’ll also receive the best lighting for photos.
To receive more detailed information on the above, it’s recommended that couples contact the park’s Concessions Office Here for further instruction.

The Colorado landscape changes a good bit during the winter months, and I'm not complaining! At the higher elevations, all of your favorite locations turn into a bright white. This marks a perfect opportunity to snowshoe, ski, etc. to your location! While not all areas are accessible, the ones that are have a truly magical feel. I'm always up for a good winter adventure!
Hiking is probably one of the most popular elopement activities in Colorado. It's mostly free and gives you the opportunity to experience a new or familiar place together. Regardless of your skill level or desired difficulty, there's something for everyone! I help a large portion of my couples find locations & hikes that fit their needs & wants best, and I'm always happy to assist you.
That's right! What's better than toasting a great meal at the top of the mountain with your spouse? Many of my couples also love sharing an intimate dinner cooked by a private chef in their Airbnb. Colorado has a great selection of food for all types of food & diets, so your selections are endless. Regardless of how you do it, sharing a meal with your loved ones is a perfect way to cap off the day.
