Black Sand Beach Iceland Wedding
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach hails as one of the many wonders of Iceland. However, only those who have a Black Sand Beach Iceland Wedding will truly feel the connection that this beauty offers. The rugged cliffs and fierce crashing waves all tell the story of Iceland. A tale of re-birth and new life.
Hold fast, hang tight. This is an unofficial motto that most will want to adopt before traveling to Iceland. The fierce weather can be both forgiving and punishing. Michelle & Chris’s Iceland Wedding day was on the forgiving side, thankfully. Though it was cloudy, there was no rain. There was wind, it was reigned in and accepted with grace. While Reynisfjara Beach is often crowded, this mixed bag of a day cleared the path for a peaceful ceremony amongst the harsh landscape, a welcome sight and sound for a wedding photographer in Iceland.
There was a calmness in the air between Michelle & Chris. They had always dreamed of getting married in Iceland, but the time was now here. As Michelle approached Chris for their first look in Hálsanefshellir Cave, you could see the peace they had as individuals before tightly embracing and sharing this feeling together. They said their vows, there was laughter and tears. The moments of gratitude and reflection were soon celebrated as the sun barely peaked through the clouds, providing an etherial glow.

Iceland Glacier Wedding
Sólheimajökull
The fire brought life to the land, the ice shaped it. Today, Iceland Glacier Weddings are very popular, with Sólheimajökull being one of the most popular glaciers close to Reykjavík. It’s jagged ice tells the tale of time while awing it’s guests.
Michelle & Chris had never seen a glacier of this magnitude. As they walked to the base of the glacier, you could see the awe in their eyes. Perhaps not just awe, considering the two had just gotten married, it was a sight for any eyes. As we made our way to the base of the glacier, the coldness approached. Holding hands enjoying the view, the two then embraced, noses touching.

The wind then returned, in larger gusts than before. We had monitored the wind forecast, but the brutal coastal weather had other plans. As an Iceland wedding photographer, this was some of the most harsh wind I experienced during a shoot. However, Michelle and Chris did not mind one bit, they carried on.
We arrived at the Katla Geopark just outside of Vík and the views were immaculate. Though cloudy, the landscape was still viewable for miles. We exited vehicles and were hit with a wall of wind. As Michelle’s dress whipped in the wind with no control, the two again embraced, laughing at the incredible moment they had created. The day came to a close as the light faded on what was an incredibly beautiful and successful Iceland Destination Wedding.
