The Fjord Overlook

Flying in from Canada for their Iceland wedding, Halle & Matt were no strangers to the cold. However, our days together proved to be quite warm – in both the literal and figurative sense. As the two got ready for their first look, Halle joked with Matt about tying his tie correctly – an impossible feat for any person, including myself.

Just above their cabin was a beautiful overlook. From the peak, you could see down the Fjord and the town of Seydisfjordor itself. A quaint little town that we all came to know very well over the days. Matt stood in the distance, the mountains behind him with the sound of the waterfalls in the distance. As Halle touched his should and he turned around, his face turned into one of the most genuine smiles I’ve ever seen. The two shared some moments, some photographs were taken as they said their vows over a cathedral of water and rock.

An Evening In Seydisfjordur

After an afternoon break, we explored the local waterfalls before heading into town. We had the beautiful landscape all to ourselves, not another person in sight. Before heading into town, we stopped for a quick rock skipping session near the water, simply enjoying the beauty of this incredible landscape and wedding day. After a few flash photos and a shared beer between the two – we parted for the evening, airdropping the two some of their photos from the morning.

Coffee In Town and F-Roads In The East

Eastern Iceland is quite remote. With the furthest points being nearly 10-hours from Reykjavik, it’s quite the feat to reach. Our objective was quite further though. Upon arrival, we were met with the true beauty of Iceland. A mix of mountainous landscapes and coastal fjords overlooks put the vastness of Iceland into perspective.

As we made our ways down the nearly 2000 ft climb, we stopped to appreciate the views, reflect on their wedding experience and bask in the beauty that Iceland had to offer and very few will ever see.
