Sunrise At Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

It was well over an hour before sunrise that the golden glow began. The purple mixed with the blues were in the forefront of the landscape, as the sun attempted to break out. Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach was the location. Tucked away in south Iceland, it’s become one of the most popular locations for Iceland Elopements.

The crowds didn’t bother Michelle & Jeff. To avoid them, we made a trek down the massive black sand beach towards Dyrhólaey. Upon arriving at the halfway point, we turned around to view the beach lighting up into a golden glow. It was unlike any light that I had ever seen. The glow complimented the dark landscape, as even the darkest parts of the scene were illuminated, brought to life.

As we wrapped up the morning, the lighting became cool, but the haze remained, creating a soft light box. The cool blue undertones now told a different story, one of peace, new beginnings.

Kvernufoss

Kvernufoss is tucked away, just around the corner from the Iceland giant Skógafoss. While smaller in size and volume, it’s tucked away in a canyon, and is invites it’s guests to walk behind it. For those looking for an Iceland Waterfall Wedding, it’s a prime location.

The walls of the canyon are a work of beauty. Shaped by the ice that once claimed the area, it’s walls texture speaks volumes of what once was here. Now claimed by moss, this location is a favorite from most Iceland Elopement Photographers.

Down a lonely F-Road in South Iceland, you will find an area called Þakgil. Known by many Iceland elopement and wedding photographers as a camping area, it’s also famed for it’s incredible mountainous beauty. With canyons of volcanic rock sweeping through the entire area, there’s no shortage of beauty.

As blue hour began, we made our way down the F-Road. With a light sprinkle of rain, we waited out the clouds as they passed through. We talked about life, how we met our spouses and just enjoyed the natural beauty of it all. As blue hour quickly passed, we were rewarded with incredible colors, overall an incredible day in Iceland.
