Boulder Colorado Elopement
Sunrise At Brainard Lake
The sun broke through. Soon after it illuminated the sky, trees, and peaks of Brainard Lake. It was one of the most incredible sunrises I’ve witnessed in Colorado. From the start, Sarah & Kristian wanted a Boulder Colorado Elopement, but decided before their date to take it to the mountains. It was only fitting.
As we arrived that morning, it wasn’t long before the two were sharing their emotional vows in front of Brainard Lake. Tears were shared, emotions were high. All was right in the world for these two.

The Hike To Mitchell Lake
Soon after their vows, we started our hike to Mitchell Lake. While not a popular location for Boulder Elopement Photographers, it’s beauty is unmatched and it’s hiker traffic is low. The trail leading to the top is a lush forest of underbrush and with this being the end of the season, creating a golden landscape.
In this part of Brainard Lake, the trees are tall, the forest is quiet. Not long after leaving the trailhead you will begin to hear the rushing of water and come upon a bridge. It sits atop a small cascade, completely surrounded by the greenery of the trees. Upon arrival, your destination isn’t far away.

Portraiture
Portraiture is a visual, detailed, description of an object or a person. It tells the story an individual. Their emotions, life and expression. Naturally, it’s an artistic take on a person. This Brainard Lake Wedding gave Sarah & Kristian an opportunity to step back, examine the world and place themselves in it to tell their story. As a Colorado Elopement Photographer, this is my goal, my promise.

The Way Back
As this Brainard Lake Elopement came to an end, it was time to make the way back. As we hiked down, there was an appreciation in the air. For a successful relationship, beautiful scenery and soft, well balanced lighting from me of course. Colorado elopements aren’t always this perfect, in regards to lighting and weather, but this day was truly an exception.
